We had hoped the primacy of energy in our bodies, joys and being would have been pretty damn obvious by now, but the media rule of drug/product/desk life-flogging corporatists has proved formidable in the extreme. If you have friends who need "certified authorities" to confirm truths they already know and feel, here are some highly credentialed corroborations that we are indeed creatures of energy by nature and design. USW celebrates that open secret in every way we can since we believe our species cannot evolve another inch until that fact ignites our lives.

Body is the Hero cover

The Body is the Hero

"It is the body that is the hero, not science, not antibiotics ... not machines, drugs or new devices ... The task of the physician today is what it has always been, to help the body do what it has learned so well to do on its own during its unending struggle for survival to heal itself! It is the body, not medicine, that is the hero!" - Ronald J. Glasser, M.D., Author, "The Body Is The Hero"

The classic celebration of our unsung immune forces and the amazing arsenal of defenses they command. Although Glasser's focus is not on bodily energy systems per se, this admiring field guide to all the immune fraternity's dynamic players and functions leaves little doubt that their complex communication, behavioral and metabolic talents are informed and directed by sophisticated energetic forces we have yet to understand.

Energy Medicine cover

Energy Medicine - The Scientific Basis

"Oschman shows how the body is a living crystal with electricity, magnetism, and light flowing through it, often at higher speeds than the standard neurology model. Quantum physics applies here, as well as piezoelectricity (pressure electricity), explaining how energy flows through water molecules in the collagen that invests every internal structure of the body. Proteins in the body are semiconductors, and our brain waves may even be tuned to standing energy waves (Schumann resonance) that surround the earth itself...

"This is a revolutionary work, attempting to transcend the semi-Newtonian view of the body as a series of more-or-less discrete systems all ruled by the brain. Similarly, old-style cell models (a bag of water) and neurology are insufficient, Oschman believes, to understand how cells are in active conversation with the rest of the body and that emotions and thoughts are also holographically represented throughout the body. It's an exciting book for readers interested in bodywork, self-regulation of the body, mind-body-spirit syntheses, and progressive ideas of medicine." - litmed.med.nyu.edu

"Oschman begins by reviewing the history of study of energy fields in medicine, and how controversy has always followed this enterprise… Yet with all the controversy, isn't it interesting that many of the most commonly used diagnostic techniques in contemporary medicine such as the electrocardiogram (EKG), electroencephalogram (EEG) and electromyography (EMG) are based on a central premise from energy medicine: That every physiological process in the body has an electrical counterpart. When one considers the electrical counterparts of the endocrine, immune and nervous systems, it provides the potential for a much richer understanding of what we think of as psychoneuroimmunology...

"An important and recurring message in this book is that the principles of energy medicine are not exotic or esoteric, but rather are present in our current scientific understanding of the body. Many medical centers are currently studying the effects of oscillating magnetic fields for the treatment of bone, nerve, skin, capillary, and ligament damage, for example. Medical research is demonstrating that devices producing pulsing magnetic fields of particular frequencies can stimulate healing in a variety of tissues...

"The author goes on to provide a technical primer in vibrational biophysics, gravitational physiology, electromagnetic signaling and biosensors, Lucretian biochemistry and cellular oscillating principles. Only passing reference is made to the ways that various energy techniques are practiced and to the extensive and growing research that supports their claims of clinical efficacy. The emphasis of his writing is an attempt to use widely accepted scientific research to answer the question "If it works, then how does it work?"  - American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis

Bioelectromagnetic Medicine cover

Bioelectromagnetic Medicine

The AMA, FDA and Big Pharma be damned, highly credentialed mainstream scientists are now beginning to speak out against the establishment blackout on "energy medicine" and this $250 880-page research collation is a welcome (if exorbitant) taste of things to come. While most of these authors defensively cover their asses re the dingbat fraternity, the thrust of the accumulated research is unmistakably clear. We are finally entering a new medical era that will be more informed by cutting edge science and ancient insights than the economic might of the pill-pushers.

Back cover blurb: "Just as MRI, PET scanning, and other sophisticated imaging techniques have revolutionized the diagnosis of disease, bioelectromagnetic approaches are now replacing drugs and surgery for many disorders. This 50-chapter volume emphasizes cutting edge breakthroughs In disorders ranging from cancer, coronary disease. and obesity to neuropsychiatric disturbances, including Parkinson's disease; epilepsy; multiple sclerosis; tinnitus; macular degeneration; migraine; musculoskeletal pain syndromes; depression; insomnia; and anxiety.

"These are supported by rigid clinical trials demonstrating their superior efficacy and safety and basic science research that has helped to elucidate the varied mechanisms of action involved. This is in sharp contrast to a host of spurious electromagnetic devices and approaches that make similar but worthless claims. Bioelectromagnetic Medicine provides the tools and skills to distinguish between true and false claims of efficacy as new therapies emerge. The biological effects of magnetic and electromagnetic fields and the importance of dosimetry in determining clinical efficacy and safety are thoroughly explained. Novel theories to explain how EMF benefits are mediated are presented in chapters devoted to quantum holography, (ell communication via electromagnetic signaling, and the existence of an 'electrical circulatory system' analogous to ancient Oriental concepts of the flow of chi.

"A special effort has been made to include bioelectromagnetic advances in Eastern Europe, Russia, and the Orient that are relatively unknown to western researchers. The 86 international authorities who have contributed to this have provided thousands of peer reviewed references to support their statements and encourage further exploration of specific topics."

The Body Electric cover

The Body Electric - Electromagnetism and the Foundation of Life

Publisher blurb: "The Body Electric tells the fascinating story of our bioelectric selves. Robert O. Becker, a pioneer in the filed of regeneration and its relationship to electrical currents in living things, challenges the established mechanistic understanding of the body. He found clues to the healing process in the long-discarded theory that electricity is vital to life. But as exciting as Becker's discoveries are, pointing to the day when human limbs, spinal cords, and organs may be regenerated after they have been damaged, equally fascinating is the story of Becker's struggle to do such original work. The Body Electric explores new pathways in our understanding of evolution, acupuncture, psychic phenomena, and healing."

Quantum Healing cover

Quantum Healing - Exploring the Frontiers of Mind/Body Medicine

Blurb Excerpts: "Dr. Deepak Chopra, a respected New England endocrinologist, began his search for answers when he saw patients in his own practice who completely recovered after being given only a few months to live. In the mid-1980's he returned to his native India to explore Aruyveda, humanities most ancient healing tradition. Now he has brought together the current research of Wetern medicine, neuoscience, and physics with the insights of Ayurvedic theory to show that the human body is controlled by a "network of intelligence" grounded in quantum reality. Not a superficial psychological state, this intelligence lies deep enough to change the basic patterns that design our physiology...

"Early on in Quantum Healing, Deepak Chopra asks an interesting question: Why, when your body mends a broken arm, is it not considered a miracle, but when your body rids itself of cancer, it is? Chopra believes the two phenomena spring from the same well, that the body is capable of doing much more than we assume it can. He calls this ability to cure disease from within "quantum healing," and shows how we're all capable of it. He believes intelligence exists everywhere in our bodies, in each of our 50 trillion cells, and that therefore each cell knows how to heal itself..."
